On October 24, a two-day “Russia-Africa” forum ended in Sochi. During the meetings the development of cooperation in the scientific and educational fields between the Russian Federation and African countries was discussed

The head of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Mikhail Kotyukov said that Russia expects further expansion of diverse humanitarian cooperation between the Russian Federation and Africa, primarily in the field of higher education and scientific research:

Opportunities and ways to increase the number of students from African countries in Russian universities are already being explored.

68 students from 10 African countries study at Vyatka State University. They are from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sudan, Uganda, Egypt, Morocco and others. Most African students study bachelor programs - 49 people. If we talk about the most popular areas of training among students from Africa, then almost half - 30 people - study at “Economics and Management”, in second place – “Engineering and Construction Technologies”. The rest students from Africa prefer a variety of areas of training - from “Computer Science and Computer Engineering” to “Linguistics and Literary Studies”.

Russia and Africa have a rich history of relations in the field of education. Today, more than 17 thousand students from the states of the African continent study at Russian universities. According to the results of the last admission campaign, almost 2 thousand people from 49 states were enrolled in Russian universities. Our universities are faced with the task of implementing the best scientific and educational programs that are based on serious fundamental research and close cooperation with industrial partners, with future employers. The programs must be as practical as possible and allow graduates to quickly adapt to changes in the labor market, -

said the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Mikhail Kotyukov on one of the days of the Russia-Africa forum.
