The regional qualifying stage of the All-Russian Olympiad among schoolchildren took place at VyatSU

On January 25-26, the regional qualifying stage of the open All-Russian Olympiad on 3D technologies among schoolchildren was held at the Polytechnic Institute of VyatSU. The Olympiad was organized within the framework of the project “Engineers of the Future: Digital Technologies”.

VyatSU became not only the venue for the competitions, but also - together with the “Association for the introduction of innovations in the field of 3D technologies” (St. Petersburg) - was one of the organizers. This is quite expected, taking into account the status of the university as a Flagship University of the region, and the large-scale work carried out here, which corresponds to the subject of the Olympiad. In particular, the Faculty of Technology, Engineering and Design, which provided the platform and equipment for competitions, is currently training technology teachers who have knowledge of 3D modeling, 3D printing, 3D scanning, and large artistic and technical creativity.

The regional stage of the Olympiad brought together more than 100 schoolchildren from Kirov, Kirovo-Chepetsk and Slobodskoy, mastering 3D-technologies in school lessons and in additional education centers. The Vice-rector for education Sergey Nikulin and the Director of the Polytechnic Institute Ivan Gubin warmly welcomed the contestants.

Participants of the nomination “3D modeling and prototyping” competed in two age categories: 10+ and 14+. The best three-dimensional models created by the teams of the contestants were allowed to be printed on a 3D printer and implemented as a prototype. Trebuchet, Archimedes odometer - these and other finished products were evaluated by experts who have undergone special training in the Association for the introduction of Innovations in the field of 3D technologies.

“Volumetric drawing - artistic creativity” was another area of team competition. For the realization of volumetric drawings, the participants were offered plots of ancient mythology - all participants in the age categories 10+ and 14+ coped with the task successfully. In addition, children of 7-8 years old took part in the nomination: they completed three-dimensional paintings inspired by the works of Nikolay Nosov about Neznayka - as a result, the jury got acquainted with different versions of the famous fairy tale character.

As in any competition, the winners were determined at the Olympiad. Now they will have to represent the Kirov region at the All-Russian stage, which will be held in April at the Smena children's center (the city of Anapa).

The other participants also did not go unheeded: they were presented with certificates and souvenirs from the Flagship University of the Kirov region.
