Students of VyatSU visited the "Maradykovsky" facility

A seminar on the Convention on the prohibition of the development, production, stockpiling and use of chemical weapons was held there

Support of business relations between states is a demanded and perspective direction of legal activity. A lawyer with knowledge of the norms and a clear understanding of the practical features of international law will always be in demand in the field of state activity. Recently, students of the Law Institute of VyatSU, future specialists in legal support of national security, together with associate Professor of the Department of theory and history of state and law Elena Gordeeva visited the facility for the storage and disposal of chemical weapons "Maradykovsky" (Kirov region). The visit passed preliminary coordination with the command of the facility, the route and the program of the event were determined.

A seminar "International Security Law: Convention on the prohibition of the development, production, stockpiling and use of chemical weapons and on their elimination (CWC, 1993)" was held at the site of the facility.

The lesson started in the area of international inspectors. Foreign observers lived there from 2006 to 2015, during the time of work on the destruction of chemical weapons. Then the seminar continued directly at the facility. Students visited the museum of "Maradykovsky" facility.

The Deputy commander of the military unit for military-political work, Lieutenant Colonel A.O. Khaidukov spoke about the types of chemical weapons, means of protection, including those used in the destruction of chemical weapons. He drew attention to the conscientious fulfillment by the Russian Federation of international obligations on the elimination of chemical weapons under the CWC, illustrating this with the example of the Maradykovsky facility. Then the participants moved to the conference room, where students made presentations. "The world history of the use of chemical weapons", "CWC – 25 years since opening for signature", "Organization for the prohibition of chemical weapons – current issues" - these topics were covered during the speeches. At the end of the event, the military answered students' questions about the observance of environmental norms and standards at the facility. Much attention was paid to the issues of labor protection, first of all, labor safety for employees and their families. It was also told about the activities of the legal service at the facility.

 

Representatives of VyatSU expressed their gratitude to the command of the military unit for the unique opportunity to visit the facility "Maradykovsky", professional explanations during the seminar and the high level of organization of the event.
