VyatSU scientists presented education models for handicapped students

As it was announced earlier, VyatSU appeared to be among those four Russian universities which got the right to develop the education model in engineering degrees for students with disabilities.

The national 2-days seminar «Development and implementation of a new education model and individual social and psychological support for students with disabilities» in engineering, technology and technical sciences started in VyatSU on September 22nd. These series of events are attended by representatives of RF Ministry of education and science as well as representatives from 14 universities from 8 regions of our country.

Within the seminars the experts discuss the issues of availability of higher education for people with disabilities. These problems deserve special attention, since today most of students with disabilities and their parents do not consider the option of getting higher engineering education. The aim of the seminar is to discuss the education model (in engineering) and social and psychological support for students with visual impairment and the malfunction of the musculoskeletal system. The Model was developed by the group of VyatSU scientists.

All the proposals that will be made by the participants within discussions will be helpful to test and replicate a model of individual social and psychological support for future engineers with disabilities.

To continue the seminar topic there will be held refresher skills up-grading courses for teachers of Russian universities on the basis of the VyatSU in October 2016.
