Vyatka State University and Sam Houston State University signed a Memorandum of Understanding

  Memorandum of Understanding is aimed to develop cooperation between Russian and American universities in education and science.

It was signed between Vyatka State University and Sam Houston State University (Huntsville, Texas, USA).

This document was initiated by Andrei Koptelov, scientist, who graduated from Kirov State Pedagogical Institute in 1982. Later on he got his Candidate’s degree in Russia. At the beginning of 2000s, Andrei Koptelov moved to the United States and taught information technology at a Houston high school there. Eight years ago, together with his students, he began to develop educational computer games. One year later his project was awarded by the US National Science Foundation and presented in Washington at the annual NSF conference.

Since 2012 Andrei Koptelov has been working as a teacher at the Sam Houston State University. Now Dr.Koptelov focuses on modern information technologies in teaching. The scientist is the author of more than 70 scientific and pedagogical publications in Russia and the USA, carries out activities to strengthen international cooperation.

 

Andrei Koptelov, as a representative of Sam Houston State University (Huntsville, Texas, USA), has become a guest of VyatSU. VyatSU Rector Valentin Pugach, vice-rectors, directors of institutes, teachers and employees took part in the meeting. A guest from the USA spoke about his developments in application of information technology at schools and higher educational institutions, and answered various questions.

“It is important for us to find out points for possible contact between Vyatka State University and Sam Houston University - this will help us to determine the best forms of cooperation”,-

Valentin Pugach said.

 

The meeting resulted in signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between universities. Putting their signatures, Valentin Pugach and Andrei Koptelov proved their intentions to conduct joint fundamental and applied research, carry out innovative activities, organize academic mobility for teachers and students, conduct scientific internship and practice, holding seminars, conferences, symposia, short-term courses and other scientific research.
