The semifinal of Student’s Team Programming World Championship for the Northeastern European region (NEERC) that was held under the auspices of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) took place on the first weekend of December at St. Petersburg ITMO University.

266 teams from leading universities of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, Uzbekistan and Estonia competed for prizes and the right to go to the final of the world's most prestigious team contest in programming.

Vyatka State University was represented by the team of Alexey Vorobyov (FKiFMN, PMIb-21), Kirill Dekhterev (FAVT, IVTb-21) and Anna Prozorova (FKiFMN, PMIb-21). They successfully overcame the quarterfinal a half month before. By the results of the contest VytSU students were awarded a diploma of the 3rd degree.

A good training for them was the participation in the Open programming contest at Kazan Federal University that was held one week before the ACM semifinal. There have been qualified the teams from Vladikavkaz, Izhevsk, Innopolis, Kazan, Kirov, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Perm, St.Petersburg, Ulyanovsk and Ufa. VyatSU team (the same participants) demonstrated good results and was awarded a diploma of the 3rd degree.
