Significant Dates

 

1955 The educational and counseling center of All-USSR Correspondence Institute of Energy was established.

1959 The first in the country General Technical Faculty was opened.

1961 The first qualified engineers graduated, and the first 175 students were admitted to full-time courses.

1963 The educational and counseling center of All-USSR Correspondence Institute of Energy was reorganized into Kirov Correspondence Polytechnic Institute. On March 13, 1963 the structure of Kirov Correspondence Polytechnic Institute was approved. This date is considered the official birthday of the institute.

1965 The Faculty of Chemical Technologies was organized; the Department of Physical Education was formed; educational and counseling centers of Kirov Correspondence Polytechnic Institute were opened in Kirovo-Chepetsk and Vyatskie Polyany; the sporting camp "Luch" was built.

1966 (April, 13) The Students Scientific Society was organized.

1966-67 The first full-time students graduated from Kirov Correspondence Polytechnic Institute.

1968 Kirov Correspondence Polytechnic Institute was reorganized into Kirov Polytechnic Institute and it was attributed to the first category. The total floor area was 18814 sq meters; the number of students was 6064; the number of lectures and instructors was 267, including 29 candidates of science and associate professors.

1969 The Evening Faculty was formed.

1970 The Patent and Technical Council of the Institute was created; Student Dormitory No 3 was built.

1972 The General Technical Faculty was reformed into the Correspondence Faculty; the ski depot was opened for 750 pairs of skis.

1973 The Students' Architecture and Design Bureau was created.

1974 The Construction Engineering Faculty was organized; the first doctoral thesis was defended.

1974-79 The first electronic computing machines were purchased.

1981 The industrial scientific research laboratory of preplant treatment of seeds was opened; the laboratory of micro-computer application and system debugging on their basis was opened as well.

1982 The industrial scientific research laboratory of increasing the efficiency of heat station operation was opened.

1983 The All-Russian inter-university scientific research laboratory of using microprocessors was created.

1984 The after-work sanatorium was opened.

1986 The inter-university computer center was founded. The industrial laboratory of conversion of plant materials for biotechnological processes was opened. The Students' Design Bureau acquired the right to issue construction documents.

1988 The problem laboratory "Metallic Materials with High Vibration-Absorbing Properties" was opened.

1990 The education laboratory building of the Electrical Engineering Faculty was constructed.

1991 The Institute passed the first State Certification (December, 19). The Faculty of Humanities was formed. The Regional Center of New Information Technologies was founded.

1992 The post-graduate courses were opened. The Evening Faculty was organized in Kirovo-Chepetsk. The Education Center was founded in the town of Vyatskie Polyany.

1993 The Social Economic Faculty was opened.

1994 Kirov Polytechnic Institute was reorganized into Vyatka State Technical University (VyatSTU). The specialties "Biotechnology" and "Domestic Radio-Electronic Appliances" were opened.

1995 The group of senior students went to the University of Virginia (USA) to the Department of Wood Science and Wood products on a one-year training course. The specialties "Accounting and Auditing" and "Information Systems in Economics" were opened.

1996 The doctoral courses were opened.

1997 The University passed the State Certification. The specialty "Technology of Artistic Processing of Materials" was opened. The first bachelors graduated. The total floor area was 84089 sq meters; the number of students was 5445; the number of lectures and instructors was 406, including 52 doctors of science and 245 candidates of science.

1999 Vyatka State Technical University was awarded by "Golden Eagle" prize (France) for high professionalism in training scientific and industrial specialists and fundamental science research.

2001 Vyatka State Technical University was conferred the status of a classical university. Vyatka State Technical University was renamed to Vyatka State University (VyatSU).

2002 The first MA courses were opened.

2006 The Youth Science School "Mathematical Simulation of Evolutionary Systems" was organized.

2007 The Minor Academy of State Service was founded.

2007 Vyatka State University became a winner in the contest of innovative higher educational institutions of Russia.

2008 The Center of Competency in the area of biotechnologies, aerobiology, bionanotechnology, general and industrial microbiology was created.

2011 The annual amount of scientific investigations increased up to almost 50mln rubles.

2011 The Ministry of Education and Science of Russia issued a license of unlimited duration for conducting educational activities to Vyatka State University (it was the first license given in Kirov Region).

2011 Vyatka State University became the official partner of the 27th World Student Summer Games 2013.

2011 Vyatka State University started developing distant education.

2011 For the first time in Kirov Region MA programs were accredited. 10 areas of training were opened: Design, Mechatronics and Robotics, Linguistics, Tourism, Journalism, Service, Documents and Archival Science, Sociology, Technology in Logging and Wood Processing, Information Safety.

2012 The First Student's Forum of Vyatka State University was held.

2012 Vyatka State University signed a cooperation agreement with Vietnam Scientific and Educational Centre of Technologies and Management.

2012 Vyatka State University became one of the winners in the contest for the best program on development of student societies announced by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia.

2012 Vyatka State University became one of the 21 winners in the contest of strategic development programs conducted by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.

2012 4 new areas of training were opened: Law, Advertising and Public Relations, Personnel Management, Technology of Printing and Packaging.

2012 All-Russian seminar "Problems and procedures of post-licensing monitoring of professional educational institutions" was held.

2012 Vyatka State University worked out the project of new licensing standards for all levels of professional education in Russia. In October 2012 All-Russian seminar "Problems and procedures of post-licensing monitoring of professional educational institutions" was held in EKSPO-CENTER in Moscow. The seminar became the next stage in turn in the realization of the project "Improvement of requirement system for ensuring conditions for implementation of educational activities" which the university accomplishes along with the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia.

2020 The international ranking of educational institutions Webometrics Ranking of World Universities:
аmong the 1104 Russian universities VyatSU took 78th position. Among the 29498 higher educational institutions of the world VyatSU took 3558 line.

2020 - For the first time, admission of applicants for the new profile "Virtual Reality Design" is open as part of the "Design" training area.

2020 - The Laser Center was opened at the Vyatka State University 2021 - VyatSU was selected for the Priority 2030 program.

2021 - VyatSU was selected for the Priority 2030 program
